A Clinical Study of Orthognathic Surgery


Abstract
Due to the development of dental fields, the need for the correction of dentofacial deformities has been increased recently. To evaluate our recent trend of orthognathic surgery, we authors and analysed the 40 patients who had been taken
orthognbathic
surgery from January 1990 to October 1992 at the department of dentistry, Chungnam National University Hospital.
@ES The results were as followings ;
@EN 1. Male : Female ratio was 17 : 23 and the 32 patients(80%) were twenties.
2. 26 patients(65%) complained not only esthetic problems but also functional problems.
3. Mandibular prognathism was found most frequently(25, 39%) and facial asymmetry(13, 20%), angle hypertrophy(11, 17%)¡¦ etc. were found also.
4. Sagittal split ramus osteotomy was done most frequently(27, 35%), and Le fort I osteotomy(13, 17%), Angle redution(12, 16%), Genioplasty(11, 15%)¡¦ etc. were done also.
5. There had not been significant complications except post-operative infection and mandible dysethesia.
